Reopening of the gallery / Unveiling a new art work by Prof. Karsten Hein

The gallery team took the conclusion of the four-week, extensive remodelling of the gallery as an occasion to proudly unveil a new artwork - the acrylic painting Constant Red - completed by Prof. Karsten Hein a few days previously and on which the he had worked almost every day for more than seven months. The fascinating work of art unveiled - the biggest (210 x 210 cm) acrylic painting of the artist up to this day as far as surface is concerned - follows strict mathematical laws and fixed rhythms. While the red modules (as Hein calls the colour fields in his pictures) are distributed uniformly over the entire image area, as in a grid, the other three colours green, cinnabar blue and ultramarine blue emerge each in a different arrangement - although the same in quantity of colour and therefore absolutely equal. The result is a stunning visual effect through which strong kinetic effects are perceptible, and draw not just the eyes but also the analytically informed sense of the viewer. The work of art was unveiled in the presence of a small, exclusive circle of collectors and friends of Prof. Karsten Hein‘s art. The television report shown here was broadcast on local television.
