This work is part of the outstanding Dionysus cycle which Ernst Fuchs began working on after pursuing an analysis of a short story by the French writer Julien Green. For his impressive, visually stunning paintings and fine prints, reflecting the theme, the artist has been inspired by impressing elements of Green’s fantastic tale.
With the four colourful prints typical of the master, which become the newest works in the Dionysos cycle (consisting of two celestial and two earthly motives), Prof. Fuchs has exceptionally succeeded in making the impressions conveyed by Green a visual experience.
